Quickpole Standard Microphone Boom - 105/345 cm

Designed by Ambient Recording, the QP 480 Mini Feature-Film Boom Pole extends up to 11' long, and as such, is suitable for recording audio in the context of film, particularly in multi-cam shots, wide-camera angles, complicated lighting scenarios, and any scene involving complicated interactions between actors and cameras. The boom itself is fashioned out of multi-layer pull-wind carbon tubing with a wall thickness of 1.55 mm, giving you a stiff and well-balanced pole. This allows you to pivot, swing, and aim a microphone in a controlled manner. At the tip of the boom is a stainless steel 3/8" thread for attachment to shockmounts. Screw locks provide greater security.

Main Benefits:

  • 11' Boom Pole for Location Sound
  • Suits Multi-Camera or Wide-Angle Shots
  • Multi-Layer, Pull-Wind Carbon Tubing
  • Stiff & Well-Balanced
  • Comparably Lightweight at 24.0 oz
  • Boom Collapses to 34" in One Piece
  • Stainless Steel 3/8" Thread
  • Included Screw Locks

Overview

Precise Booming

Feature film boom ops have to face a unique set of challenges. Even though the shot requirements are often known in advance, wide camera angles, multi-cam shots, moving actors or cameras, and complicated lighting can tax the attention of the most seasoned field professional.
These professionals know that having the right tools close at hand is an absolute necessity.

Understanding feature film booming requirements, Ambient specially designed multilayer pullwind carbon tubes with 1.5 mm wall thickness.

Less segments for extra control

The reduced number of segments provides the extra control in situations where a long, extended pole is required.
The extraordinary rigidity allows a boom operator to swing and point the microphone with great precision as the boom bounce is minimized preventing the microphone from dipping into the frame.

More comfort thanks to internal cabling.

Internal cabling is a disputed subject within the sound community. While the pre-cabled booms offer added convenience, they are, of course, more vulnerable to rattle noise. This is why Ambient provides the choice to the individual professional by offering the QP series boom poles in both cabled and uncabled versions.
The cabled booms are equipped with in-house production, optimized ultra-thin cables. With an effective shielding and a polyurethane insulation, these durable cables provide excellent endurance while maintaining flexibility even in temperatures as low as -40° C (-40° F).
